Tutorial: Sharing Photos & Other Files

BadBlue provides instant support for images captured by your digital camera, downloaded from the internet, or created on your own workstation. Automatic photo albums, slide-shows and detailed file listing views can be supported for any folder you choose to share.

Which Browser?

You can use any browser with BadBlue.

Important: when managing BadBlue, we strongly recommend the use of Internet Explorer (IE). Although any browser (Mozilla, Opera, etc.) will work for BadBlue users, the management pages use some IE-specific features.

Step 1

The Manage tab (highlighted in yellow at right) is used to manage your BadBlue server. Click the Manage tab.

Step 2

Click the Setup Folders link (highlighted). This will let you choose the photos or files you'll share with others.

Step 3

Name your new shared folder (say, 'Photos'), then press the Browse button.

Step 4

Select any of the photos or files in the folder you want to share (for example -- "My Documents\My Pictures" -- as shown at right). Press the Open button to finish the selection.

Step 5

Press the "Add Virtual Directory" button to share the folder.

Step 6

Note the folder has been added to the list of shared areas (at bottom, right). Press the Folders tab to test it.

Step 7

The newly created folder is now available to users who visit your server. Click on the folder to begin browsing it. For instructions on how to view the folder as a photo album, slide-show or detailed file view, visit the Setting up the Folders tab help page.
