How do I create a folder?
Please note that the terms 'folder' and 'virtual directory' really
mean the same thing.
From the main menu, use:
Manage tab
Setup folders tab
Name the folder (for example, pictures)
Select any file in the folder which is to become a virtual directory.
Or simply enter the complete path to the directory including the
trailing backslash character (e.g., c:\my documents\my pictures\).
Press the Add virtual directory button
The virtual directory should now appear under the Folders tab.
How do I create an uploads folder to let users upload files to me?
From the main menu, use:
Manage tab
Setup folders tab
Name the folder uploads
Select any file in the folder which is to become the uploads folder.
Or simply enter the complete path to the directory including the
trailing backslash character (e.g., c:\my documents\my pictures\).
Press the Add virtual directory button
Users should now be able to upload files to your PC by pressing
the Upload button from the Folders tab.
What is a virtual directory?
A virtual directory appears to be a folder when surfing
to a server but actually refers to a different area of the
hard disk or local network. For instance, BadBlue might be
installed to:
c:\program files\badblue\pe\
but there might
be a folder containing existing HTML at:
g:\documents\my pictures\
BadBlue allows you to create a
virtual directory with a specific name (say, pics) that
refers to the existing folder. A user can then surf to your
machine and reference the virtual directory through the name
you have assigned, e.g.,
http://1.2.3.4/pics/index.htm
