How do users perform full-text searches?
|
Once full-text searches have been defined (above),
the search tab will display a Search contents of files
checkbox (see illustration at right).
The user now has the option to search by file title - if the
checkbox is left unchecked.
Or the user can search the contents of files if the box is checked.
Note that only the file types defined as full-text (in the setup, above)
will be searched.

Common search tab questions and answers
Problem:
I need to password-protect the search results page so that only logged-in users
can see the names of my files
Solution: use the following steps to password-protect the
search results page:
Click on Manage >> Setup seach tab
Click the Browse button and choose the search.htx
file in the BadBlue installation directory (usually BadBlue
is installed to c:\program files\badblue\pe or \ee)
Make sure the Share all files in this folder checkbox
is NOT checked
Press the Share! button
Click on Manage >> Password-protect files
Select the search.htx shared area
Press the Require user authentication button
Now users will be required to authenticate (log-in)
before they can view the names of any files after a search. Note
that they will only have to log-in the first time they search.
Problem: My users search and
get the right results but can't download any
of the files... why not?
Solution: Use the Manage >> Set search options
menu to define the My IP address field.
Enter your domain name (e.g., jsmith.dyndns.org) or
your external
IP address. See the Troubleshooting Guide if
you don't know your external IP address.
Press the Save changes button, then exit BadBlue completely
and restart (from the Windows Start menu) for the changes to take effect.
Problem: How do I prevent users from downloading
copies of my Office files, but allow only 'Live views'?
Solution: Use the Manage >> Setup seach tab
menu. Change the Allow live views only setting to Yes.
Press the Save changes button.
Problem: Why do files in a shared
folder not appear in search results?
Solution: Use the Manage >> Setup seach tab
menu and scroll to the bottom of the page.
Press the Refresh indexes button; this will reload the
cache of files that BadBlue returns as valid search result files. This
step may be necessary if you've added or removed files from a shared folder
since starting BadBlue.
If this does not solve the problem, exit and restart BadBlue. A failed
search can occur if the port number is changed without exiting and restarting.
